Republic Iceland Monetary unit is the krona which consists from 100 eyrirs. In a money turnover there are coins of denomination of 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 kronas.

The First coins of Iceland 10 and 25 eyrirs have been entered in 1922. They were followed in 1925 of a coin of 1 and 2 kronas, and in 1926 of a coin 1, by 2 and 5 eyrirs. In 1946 in design of coins there were changes, the royal monogram (CXR), after acquisition of independence of Denmark in 1944 when Denmark has been occupied by nazi Germany has been removed.

Since 1967 new coins in connection with significant falling of cost of a krona have been entered. This year have manufactured coins of 10 kronas, then on coins 50 eyrirs and 5 kronas in 1969 and a coin of 50 kronas in 1970.

In 1981 there was again an issue of new coins of Iceland of denomination in 5, 10 and 50 eyrirs, 1 and 5 kronas. The new coin of 10 kronas is entered in 1984, 50 kronas in 1987 and 100 kronas in 1995. As of October, 1st, 2003, the Icelandic banks any more do not accept a coin 5, 10 and 50 eyrirs.
