Metal kunas and lipas - modern coins of Croatia

Republic Croatia Monetary unit is the kuna which consists of 100 lipas. In monetary circulation there are coins in nominal value 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 lipas, 1, 2 and 5 kunas.

Modern kunas have been entered on May, 30th, 1994, having replaced dinar Croatia. The exchange rate of dinars and a kuna was 1 kuna=1000 dinars. The self-proclaimed Republic the Serbian Kraina which are in composition of Croatia, did not use neither kunas, nor dinars Croatia. Instead they have manufactured the dinar of Krainy, but in 1995 have been integrated revertively into Croatia.

The Croatian kuna tries to support parity at first with DM, then from euro. The policy of the Croatian National bank is directed on preservation of exchange fluctuations of a kuna at an exchange for euro in rather stable range. The country costs on a path of the introduction to the European Union and schedules to join the European currency system.

In 1994 coins of denomination in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 lipa, 1, 2 and 5 kunas have been entered. Coins are manufactured in two versions: one with the plant or animal name, Croatian (in odd years), other with the same names, but on Latin (in even years).
