Monetary unit of Georgia is laris which consists from 100 tetris. In circulation there are coins of denomination 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 tetris, and as 1 and 2 laris.

Coins in Georgia have been manufactured by two series. A series of 1993 included nominal values 1,2,5,10,20 and 50 tetris. Coins in 50 tetris were minted from a steel by the plated brass, other of stainless steel. On obverses of all coins of that series the Georgian symbol of the Sun with seven rotating wings, possessed over a Christian Tree of the Life, date of stamping "1993" and an inscription "Republic Georgia" in the Georgian and English languages has been represented.

The Second series manufactured in 2006 includes coins in nominal value 50 tetris, 1 and 2 laris. Coins 50 tetris and 1 laris are executed from a Copper-Nickel, and a coin 2 laris bimetallic - an external circle - a Copper-Nickel, and the central part - an alloy of copper, nickel and aluminium. On obverses of coins of this series the arms of Georgia, a date of issue - "2006" and an inscription "Georgia" in the Georgian language are represented.
