Monetary unit of Incorporated Republic Tanzania is the shilling which is equal 100 cents. In a cash turn-over there are coins in nominal value 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and 1, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100 shillings.

Obverses of Tanzanian coins of all nominal values, besides a portrait of doctor Juliusa Kambarage Nerere, contain also inscriptions: TANZANIA (1, 5 and 20 shillings), MWALIMU JULIUS NYERERE. RAIS WA KWANZA WA TANZANIA (10 and 100 shillings) and NDUGU ALI HASSAN MWINYI. RAIS WA PILI WA TANZANIA (50 shillings).

On a coin reverse in 1 shilling the plotting of a fragment of the arms and freedom torch is seated, on the back of a coin of denomination 5 shillings are represented millet stalks, corn, a sheaf of bananas and a lying zebu. The reverse of a coin in nominal value of 10 shillings is decorated by the country State Emblem, the back of 20 shillings contains the plotting of an elephant cow with the elephant calf. On a reverse of a coin of denomination of 50 shillings the female of a rhinoceros with a cub is represented, and on the back coins in 100 shillings the plotting of three running antelopes is possessed. Coins in 20 and 50 shillings have a smooth herd, at a coin in nominal value of 5 shillings - a herd of sectoral section, at coins in 1,10 and 100 shillings - a corrugated herd.

Unlike many African token moneys, on coins of Tanzania without pay there is not a country State Emblem, and a portrait of doctor Juliusa Kambarage Nerere holding a post of the president of Tanzania during the period with 1964 on 1985
