Republic Cameroon Monetary unit is the franc CFA (CFA Central - financial cooperation of the countries of the Central Africa) which is equal 100 centimes. In monetary circulation there are coins in nominal value 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 500 franc CFAs.

The Exchange rate union of the Central Africa - sometimes it name also a zone of issue of Bank of the States of the Central Africa - as regional currency grouping combines eight African countries: Gabon, Cameroon, Congo, Central African republic, Chad and Equatorial Guinea. The union was formed still during this period when these countries were colonial possession of France. In all countries of the Exchange rate union of the Central Africa in circulation there are coins with identical design and nominal value.

On an obverse of a coin in nominal value 1 franc against savanna three heads of an antelope the addax are represented, on a reverse the digital designation of nominal value and an inscription with the issuing bank name, framed with a wreath from fruits is seated. Coins in nominal value 5,10,25 have similar design of an obverse, 50 and 100 francs, the reverse is issued in the same way (except for actually figure of nominal value of a coin) at 5, 10 and 25 francs. On the back coins of denomination of 50 francs the digital designation of nominal value is seated in to ornament the socket, and for 100 francs the geometrical ornament is used.

For manufacturing of coins such metals and alloys, as aluminium (1 franc), Aluminum-Bronze an alloy (5,10 and 25 francs), nickel (100 francs) and a Copper-Nickel (50 and 500 francs) are used. Coins in nominal values 1, 5, 10 francs and 500 francs of a series of 1998 have a smooth herd, for coins of other nominal values the corrugated herd is characteristic.
