Republic Uganda Monetary unit is the ugandan shilling equal to 100 cents and manufactured by Bank of Uganda.
The Shilling Uganda is entered on August, 15th, 1966 instead of the East African shilling manufactured by Management of monetary circulation of East Africa for Kenya, Uganda, Tanganyika and Zanzibar (Kenya see ). With native currency issue the exchange for it of the East African shillings on a parity has begun
1: 1 and their gradual withdrawal from the circulation.
In the cash circulation there are denominations of denomination of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000 shillings. Thus four modifications, and a denomination in nominal value of 10000 shillings - three have notes in nominal values of 1000 and 5000 shillings. All modifications of notes are a lawful legal tender in territory of this African country. As a result of serious inflation cents have been completely withdrawn from a universal turn-over.
The Face side of a denomination of denomination of 5000 shillings of the sample of 2004 (the size - 151 x 74 mm, primary colours - lilac and yellow) is decorated by the terrace and kind plotting on a lake Bunoni valley, on a reverse ferry "" plotting is seated.
On face side of a denomination in nominal value of 20000 shillings of the sample of 2004 (the size - 160 x 78 mm, dominating colours - green and grey) is seated the plotting of a crane, and the building of the Government of Uganda on the back is represented.
To protection of authenticity of notes of all nominal values against fakes are applied as the watermarks which are looking like the State Emblem of Uganda, and protective strips with the microtext of a digital designation of nominal value put on them which cross notes across to the left of the center. Also from a note fake protect holographic strips on which all length depending on a point of view it is possible to see both a digital designation of nominal value, and an abbreviation of Bank of Uganda.
The Note in nominal value of 2000 ugandan shillings has been entered into the circulation in 2010. It is necessary to notice that notes of the last series manufactured in 2010 have received the award as the best notes on the International association of currency affairs (IACA) spent in Singapore in October, 2011, besides the note of 50000 shillings has been recognised the best the International company of notes.
