Monetary unit of Republic Ivory Coast is the West African franc designated as CFA (CFA West - Financial community of the countries of the Western Africa) and manufactured Bank of the states of the Western Africa. In the cash circulation there are denominations of denomination of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10 000 francs.
The West African exchange rate union combines eight West African countries, being simultaneously members of a franc area. The Union includes Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
Till 1973 the Union included Mauritania and Madagascar. The republic Mali left the Union in 1962 and again has entered in June, 1984 the West African exchange rate union is formed during the period when the countries entering into it were colonies and dependent territories of France.
The Supreme body of the West African exchange rate union - annual conference of heads of member states, defining the general policy and structural changes of the Union, and also questions who cannot be co-ordinated Union Ministerial council.
The Central bank of the states of the Western Africa manufactures notes of the uniform sample in franc CFAs. The franc CFAs manufactured in one of the countries of the Union, are valid a lawful legal tender in all other member countries.
Currency restrictions in all countries of the Union basically are uniform. Exportation of notes in franc CFAs is limited 25000 (from Senegal - 20000) francs on one person.
